Powered by Betonindustrie Brievengat, a  company within the Janssen de Jong Caribbean group, we are committed to pushing  the boundaries of construction technology.

History of the 3D Concrete Printing Concept

Urshal’s Wall Building Machine

1930

The concept of 3DCP has been around longer than many people realise. In 1930 William E. Urschel of Valparaiso, Indiana, invented what he called the “Wall Building Machine”. The machine was pretty basic and in 1940 he made some improvement to his “Wall Building Machine”. In 1941 he filed a patent for his machine describing his idea.  His machine consisted of an extruder mounted on the end of a counterweighted boom. The boom swivels on a mast and is cranked up manually for material extrusion. This is the very first concept of 3DCP recorded, and little did Urschel know that today we’d be exploring this concept all around the world, even in the Caribbean.

2016

The First Industrial Revolution in history was mechanization, the Second Revolution was electrification, and in the Third Revolution is automation. The Fourth Industrial Revolution (Industry 4.0) is based on digitalization and connectivity, and promises to significantly improve the way of doing business. We proudly welcome Construction 4.0. in the Caribbean. Construction 4.0., also called the Fourth Industrial Revolution, is the concept of embracing digitalization and modern, smart technology in all aspects of construction. “The word revolution denotes abrupt and radical change. Revolutions have occurred throughout history when new technologies and novel ways of perceiving the world trigger a profound change in economic systems and social structures”. (Schwab, 2016)

Feasibility Study

2017

As an innovative company as we are, we started our research on 3DCP back in 2017. During this period, we researched various possible partnerships, types of 3D printers which would fit best with our needs, we started exploring with materials and unique 3D mix designs and we visited various facilities of companies active in 3DCP.

Launch 3D Concrete

2021

On September 4th, 2021, we were finally able to share with the world that we were bringing the very first 3D Concrete Printer to Curaçao in partnership with CyBe Construction and that it was already on its way!
